This process of sewing together is known as Quilting.

The 3 different layers of Quilt are

Top layer: This is the front part of the quilt which features the pattern or the decorative design. It can be made of different fabrics such as velvet, silk & cotton.

Middle layer: The middle layer is made with insulating batting which keeps the interior of the quilt warmer.

Bottom layer: The bottom layer is usually kept free of any pattern and has the same fabric as the top layer.
